Introdcution of Tibetan Buddhism and The Potala Palace

Tibetan Buddhism is a branch of Mahayana Buddhism practiced primarily in Tibet and the Himalayan regions. It incorporates teachings from Indian Buddhism, Tantric practices, and indigenous Tibetan traditions. Key features include the Dalai Lama as a spiritual leader, emphasis on meditation, and the use of mantras (e.g., "Om Mani Padme Hum"). Major schools include Gelug, Kagyu, Nyingma, and Sakya.

The Potala Palace, located in Lhasa, Tibet, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism. Built in the 7th century by King Songtsen Gampo and expanded in the 17th century by the 5th Dalai Lama, it served as the winter residence of successive Dalai Lamas. The palace combines religious and political functions, housing sacred stupas, murals, and scriptures. Its towering white and red structures are iconic landmarks of Tibetan culture.
